Anxiety Disorder and its symptoms

it is a form of neurosis, a generalized — pervasive fear dominating a person’s behavior. It can be instant or gradually developing. Anxiety means too much concern about a thing or some person and is an offshoot of emotionality which relegates all other factors to the hind site. Anxiety may be caused by some impending fear of some mishap or may even linger on even after the crisis stage has passed off. Women are more susceptible and vulnerable to anxiety than men.

I know the case of a lady who passed loose motions consequent upon receiving some bad news. A person’s heart beat used to go up as soon a whistling vehicle passed from his side. I would like to distinguish here between palpitation and tachycardia, as these are confusing terms to many. Normal heart beat is called palpitation but sound of beating of heart is not heart but, in tachyeardia, heart also beats, but faster and sound of heart beats are audible in the ears. Anxiety is a common factor in both said symptoms.
There is no evidence to prove that most or all anxiety disorders can be traced back to genetic factor. In certain persons anxiety is trait of their personalities. There is no person who never got anxious in his/her life time. Degree of anxiety varies in all the cases but poor tolerance of stress and inability to face and withstand odd and/or unexpected events clearly signifies the extent to the which a person can handle a situation. Mood plays an important role in handling a situation. Sometimes eves major incidents fail to move a person but, there are minor incidents which drive a man out of his nerves.
Phobia has already been discussed under the same heading. Relevant contents of phobia and anxiety should be dubbed together to get first hand knowledge of cum-anxiety. Sudden or recurrent, severe and intense anxiety cannot be easily foreseen or predicted.
Sudden panic disorder takes place when the patient fears death due to certain physical symptoms like, heart attack, dyspnoea, pain in chest, choking, palpitation, colic pamn etc. As soon as the symptoms disappear the patient regains normal position and is free from anxiety. It is more so between intervening gap between two attacks. Anxiety disorders may also be caused by hypoglycemia, hyperthyroidism, alcohol withdrawal, Epilopsy etc.
As a first step, problem should be tackled with a psychological approach and, if no relief follows, drug therapy may be resorted to, though drug therapy has not much significant role to play.
